Since we've been in Glasgow, we've checked out local candy (though much is made by international companies, like Mars). Cormac, especially, loves the chocolate bars with caramel in the middle. So, today after school, we decided to do a blind taste test with sips of milk to clear the palate between tastes. Which of our four contenders will prevail as the best British caramel candy?
The contenders:
Cadbury Dairy Mile Caramel Nibbles (sometimes called buttons) -- rated as okay, but with a slight aftertaste
Green and Black's Organic (on sale at our local store) -- too dark and the filling was more like cherry caramel
Galaxy Caramel (sold in US as Dove) -- perfect amount of caramel and proper stickiness
Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel -- good but caramel a little sticky
And the winner is...
a split decision with Cormac choosing his long-standing favorite Galaxy as having the best proportion between chocolate and caramel and the right amount of stickiness and Declan choosing the Cadbury due to its smoother caramel.
hilarious! This will need to be a repeat when I arrive. ha!
