A block from our house is a gem for the nature lover -- a botanic garden. Above the Kevin River Walkway (which I mentioned before is a great path along the river) are two glass houses with plants from around the world. There is one large round glass house with sculptures, called the Kibble Palace, which is based on John Kibble's private botanic garden for his home (probably a pretty large house). The botanic gardens, at one time, were only open to members of the Royal Botantic Institution of Glasgow. Luckily, now anyone can visit!
The pictures below don't give justice to the amazing array of flora in these glass houses. There are also formal gardens and an arboretum, but since it's winter, we'll have to wait to see those parts of the gardens in their glory later in the year.
Some wild American fauna hiding behind those palm leaves!
